Brahminy Kite Treatment, Rescue and Rehabilitation

The Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus) is an important bird of prey found in coastal areas, wetlands, rivers and other natural habitats. Injured Brahminy Kites require prompt and specialized veterinary care to improve their chances of survival and successful return to the wild. Rescued birds are carefully examined for wing injuries, fractures, wounds, dehydration, weakness, infections and other health problems. Appropriate treatment may include wound management, fracture stabilization, medication, fluid therapy, nutritional support and supportive care. During rehabilitation, the bird is monitored for recovery, normal feeding behaviour, flight ability and overall fitness. After complete recovery and assessment of its ability to fly and survive independently, the Brahminy Kite is safely released back into a suitable natural habitat. Such rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and release efforts play an important role in the conservation and welfare of birds of prey.

Parakeet Treatment – Gas Anaesthesia and Wing Bone Fracture Management

An injured parakeet suffering from a wing bone fracture was successfully treated using gas anaesthesia under the veterinary care of Dr. Krish Asokan. Gas anaesthesia enabled safe and controlled examination of the bird, allowing careful assessment of the fracture, stabilization of the affected wing, and appropriate fracture management. The timely treatment supported the parakeet’s recovery, rehabilitation, and eventual return to normal flight and life.
